Morning routine

Students arriving at school before 8:30am are required to sit on the benches near the stairs in the administration block. At 8:30am a teacher begins playground duty. At that time students are allowed to play in the South playground until the bell rings at 8:55.Students must then assemble in their class lines under the COLA. Parents are welcome to remain for the assembly on Mondays and Fridays until the class teachers collect their class and take them to the classroom to begin lessons. On Tuesdays students in K-2 and 5-6 classes go to their scripture class instead of to lines. 3-6 students go to lines as usual and to scripture at 9:25am. If a student arrives late for school, he/she must go directly to the school office and obtain a late card. Students arriving late should be signed in by a parent or caregiver. If the parent/caregiver is not present, a late note will be sent home with the student. It is important that this note be signed ASAP and returned to the class teacher.

Afternoon routine

The afternoon bell is rung at 3pm. Parents/caregivers can collect their children from the playground area outside their child's classroom. Parents/caregivers are asked to wait in the playground area until their children arrive. K-2 students must be met by either a parent/caregiver or an older sibling before they are allowed to leave the school grounds. These students will remain with their teacher until their parent/caregiver/sibling arrives. If a parent/caregiver needs to collect their child early, a card must be obtained from the school office. This card should then be presented to the class teacher before the student leaves.

Visitors to the school

All visitors to the school are required to report to the school office immediately upon arrival to sign in. Parents dropping off and collecting students before and after school may do so without signing in unless they are remaining on-site as volunteers. We appreciate community co-operation with this procedure as it assists us to ensure the safety of all our students.

Lost property

Croydon Park Public School recommends that all items brought to school be clearly labelled with the student's name and class. In this way we are able to return any lost property promptly. Any unidentified lost property is stored for one term in the lost property cupboard, located in the duplication room. Students and parents are invited to seek their property in this cupboard. At the end of each term any unclaimed lost property without a name is donated to charity.

Lunch orders

The CPPS canteen is open for recess and lunch every day. Lunch orders should be written on the front of a paper bag, the money placed inside the bag and the bag then given to the canteen manager. All lunch orders should be clearly labelled with the student's name and class. Click here to view the canteen menu and price list. Please note that credit is not available at the school canteen. Croydon Park Public School recommends that a healthy, nutritious lunch be provided for all students every day.

Permission notes and money collection

Permission notes for special events will be sent home with students periodically. It is important that these notes be signed and returned with any necessary payment to the class teacher ASAP. A closing date will be shown on each note. No notes or money will be accepted after the closing date. It should be noted that if a permission note is not returned by the due date the student will not be allowed to attend the event. If a family is experiencing difficulty with the cost of an event, please approach the Principal as soon as possible after the permission note is sent home. For any other difficulties, please contact the class teacher.

Travel to school

Car

Walking

Parents dropping off and collecting their children by car are welcome to park in Seymour Street or Beresford Avenue. For the safety of our students, parents should note that parking on the school grounds is strictly prohibited. When dropping off or collecting a child by car, it is recommended that parents escort their child from the car to the school grounds and vice versa. Parking laws and restrictions should be observed at all times.

Children walking between home and school are encouraged to walk in groups and where necessary, to cross the road as a group. All students are expected to cross major roads at pedestrian traffic lights. It is recommended that families walk the route with children to identify the safest route to follow (e.g. where to cross the road, use of paths etc).  Please note that students in K-2 will not be allowed to leave the school grounds until collected by a parent/caregiver or older sibling.

Bus

Children catching a bus to and from school must remember that they are travelling with the general public and as such are representatives of their school. Bus stops are located on either side of Georges River Road. It should be noted that these bus stops are NOT part of the school grounds and are NOT supervised by school staff. It is recommended that students travelling by bus do so accompanied by a responsible adult.

Communicating with staff

Croydon Park Public School staff value the involvement of parents in many areas of school life and are always willing to discuss any concerns parents may have regarding their children. If you would like to speak with your child’s teacher, please make an appointment by approaching the teacher after school, or by contacting the school office.
